Data Engineer

If you're a data nerd who loves putting puzzles together, this position is for you. As a member of the Operations team, you will work cross functionally across all areas of the business to help lead and build the foundation for Yesware’s critical analytics. We are looking for an independent thinker who is excited to dig in and bring our data and analytics strategy to a new level, becoming a trusted source of actionable insights. As we head into an era of increasing regulations around personal data protection, the Data Engineer will be our resident expert on where all personal information resides and why, helping to institute documentation and processes to support compliance as a growing business. Multi-faceted and challenging role in a dynamic startup environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Business Insights: Make recommendations to all Yesware departments on ways to enhance, replace, or fix elements of our current tech stack.
  • Collaboration: Communicate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Product, and Marketing​ teams. Lead training for internal business users for various systems usage.
  • Data Warehousing: Design, build, and launch efficient and reliable data pipelines to move data out of Yesware’s core product/business tools to downstream business systems and data warehouse. Maintain responsibility for all code and configuration.
  • Data Integrity: Address data integrity issues and work to solve root cause process or systems issues partnering with source system owners. Create data match strategies.
  • Reporting: Support data requests by executing any needed coding in our tools to help business users create dashboards and reports.
  • Documentation: Build and maintain comprehensive documentation of Yesware's data hierarchy and definitions, reconciling multiple data sources and determining the "source of truth" for each.
  • Compliance: Lead efforts to keep Yesware compliant with GDPR regulations as the expert on "what data is where."

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of computer systems experience
  • High proficiency in SQL, Python, Ruby, and/or similar languages
  • Demonstrated success building out, configuring, and managing a data warehouse (e.g. Redshift, Snowflake, etc.)
  • Experience designing and operating a monitoring system to support highly available services (e.g. SumoLogic, Pingdom, Nagios, etc.)
  • Experience with analytics platforms (e.g. Segment, Amplitude, Mode etc.)
  • Ability to perform testing and regression testing to ensure high quality work
  • Previous exposure to online advertising systems or ad tech industry 
  • Interest working cross-functionally across business and technical teams and stakeholders
